S58 Exhaust VANOS Modification – G8X Platform

For high-boost S58 builds, one of the key limitations is the exhaust VANOS system. On the S58, the fuel pump load is applied directly to the exhaust cam, creating additional resistance that makes it difficult for VANOS to achieve optimal cam timing under high power conditions. Even when oil pressure is increased, the system often cannot reach the commanded advance targets at elevated boost levels.

As boost rises, the exhaust cam typically retards timing under load, which can result in significant power loss—up to 200HP on extreme setups.

This modification locks out exhaust VANOS movement, eliminating timing regression and supporting consistent power delivery. Custom tuning is required after installation to accommodate the updated cam control strategy.

• Most beneficial at 45+ PSI, depending on turbo configuration
• Ideal for G80 / G81 / G82 / G83 M3/M4 platforms
